Join our dynamic team as a CDL-A Hazmat Driver operating in the Chicago area, with a consistent home weekly schedule from Thursday through Monday. This role offers an exciting opportunity to drive specialized freight, including hazardous materials, across over-the-road routes while maintaining strict adherence to safety and regulatory standards. You'll be responsible for delivering hazardous cargo efficiently and safely, ensuring compliance with all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) and DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped with trailers, or specialized equipment to transport hazardous materials and freight. Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety, including checking load securement, brake systems, lights, and compliance with hazardous materials regulations. Use GPS navigation systems to follow optimized routes and ensure timely deliveries while adhering to all DOT and FMCSA regulations. Maintain accurate documentation for shipments, including bills of lading, hazardous materials shipping papers, and delivery logs. Follow all safety protocols related to dangerous goods transportation, including proper placarding and handling procedures. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery schedules, route adjustments, or any issues encountered during transit. Experience Valid CDL-A license with Hazmat endorsement required; experience driving tractor-trailers on over-the-road (OTR) routes preferred. Proven experience in commercial truck driving Familiarity with GPS navigation systems and route planning tools for efficient delivery scheduling. Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations (HMR) and DOT (Department of Transportation) safety standards for transporting dangerous goods.
