Cash Receiving Supervisor
Blue Shield of CaliforniaYour Role As Cash Receiving Supervisor, you will lead a team responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of incoming payments and cash receipts. You will oversee cash handling, reconciliation, deposit operations, and related controls that support the organization's liquidity, financial reporting, and operational effectiveness. Your leadership will help ensure strong internal controls, efficient cash flow management, audit readiness, and the safeguarding of company assets. In addition to day-to-day operations, you will drive workforce planning, productivity management, process improvement, and automation initiatives to enhance service levels, reduce operational risk, and improve efficiency. You will partner with stakeholders across Finance, Accounts Payable, Customer Service, Treasury, and Operations to resolve issues, support business objectives, and deliver measurable results. Your Work In this role, you will: Manage and develop a team of approximately 10 staff Establish productivity metrics, dashboards, and performance expectations Drive accountability, cross-training, succession planning, and employee development Ensure timely and accurate receipt, processing, reconciliation, and deposit of funds Monitor workloads, aging items, and service levels Maintain strong controls over cash handling and asset protection Own cash receipt technologies such as Remote Deposit Capture, lockbox operations, and file transfers Partner with vendors to resolve system issues Identify automation opportunities that improve efficiency and reduce risk Develop and maintain desk-level procedures, policies, and internal controls Identify operational and compliance risks before they become issues Ensure audit readiness and regulatory compliance Build and maintain productivity dashboards and operational reporting Analyze trends, volumes, exceptions, backlog, and performance metrics Present actionable insights and recommendations to leadership Collaborate with Customer Service, Accounting, Treasury, Accounts Payable, Vendors, and business stakeholders Resolve payment discrepancies and operational issues Communicate effectively with both frontline staff and senior leadership Your Knowledge and Experience Requires Bachelor’s degree or High School Diploma/GED and 4 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field highly preferred Requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience Requires a minimum of 2 years of experience operating in a lead role or equivalent leadership training or manager training Strong accounting, financial operations, and cash management background Experience managing cash receipt processing, banking operations, lockbox, treasury, payment processing, or related functions Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Access Experience developing dashboards, productivity metrics, KPIs, and operational reporting Ability to analyze financial and operational data and provide actionable recommendations Knowledge of internal controls, audit requirements, compliance standards, and risk management practices Demonstrated ability to plan ahead, identify operational and compliance risks, and implement mitigation strategies Experience leading process improvement, automation, or system enhancement initiatives Strong communication, organizational, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills Experience hiring, coaching, developing, and retaining high-performing teams Hybrid This role requires employees to be in-office based on our hybrid workplace model, balancing purposeful in-person collaboration with flexibility. For most teams, this means coming into the office two days each week. Employees living more than 50 miles from an office location will work with their manager to determine in-office time based on business need.
