Carrier Sales Representative (Entry Level, Training Provided)
Skyline Transport GroupStart a career in freight brokerage. No experience needed, we'll train you. Skyline Transport Group is a family-owned, asset-based carrier and freight brokerage. Since 2004 we have run our own fleet of more than 150 tractors and trailers, hauling refrigerated, flatbed and dry van freight in all 48 states from offices in Vancouver, Washington, Sacramento, California and Austin, Texas. We're hiring entry-level carrier sales reps in our North Austin office. When our own trucks can't take a load, you find a carrier that can, agree on a rate and stay on the load until it delivers. You don't need brokerage experience. We'll train you. The job is in the office four days a week, alongside our account executives. What you'll do Cover loads. Account executives send you loads to cover. You check our own fleet first, then find carriers on DAT, Truckstop and through your own contacts. Negotiate rates. Call carriers, compare rates and agree on a price that works for the load. Check every carrier. Before each load, confirm the carrier's authority, insurance and identity. We never re-broker loads. Send the paperwork. Send rate confirmations with the right equipment, pickup and delivery times, reefer temperature and any extra charges. Build carrier relationships. Get to know the carriers you use, the lanes they run and the equipment they have, so you know who to call first next time. Follow the load. Work with dispatch from pickup to delivery. If a truck runs late or breaks down, help fix it and keep the account executive updated. Keep good records. Log carriers, rates and loads in our system. A day on the desk Start the day going over open loads with the account executives. Spend most of the day on the phone and load boards, booking carriers and negotiating rates. Send rate confirmations and check on loads that are moving. Line up trucks for the next day before you leave. What we're looking for No brokerage experience required. Experience in dispatch, logistics, customer service or phone sales helps. You're comfortable on the phone all day and can hold your ground in a negotiation. You stay organized when several things are happening at once. You take feedback well and want to learn the business. You can work in our North Austin office four days a week. Nice to have: DAT or Truckstop experience, refrigerated or flatbed experience, Spanish. What you will learn How freight is priced and how the market moves. How to find, check and keep good carriers, and how to spot fraud. How a load runs from booking to delivery at a company with its own trucks. How the sales side works, from the account executives you sit with. Strong carrier sales reps can grow into an account executive role. Pay We'll go over pay in the first conversation.
