CARRIER SALES REPRESENTATIVE
NavifreightAs a Carrier Sales Representative, your role is to build and protect the carrier network Navifreight's customers depend on - making sure every load has a qualified truck, at the right rate, moving on time. You're often the first and most frequent point of contact a carrier has with Navifreight, so how you show up on the phone becomes how carriers experience this company. You're comfortable making a high volume of calls, comfortable negotiating a rate, and comfortable holding the line on a number that doesn't work - while still leaving the relationship intact for the next load. You'll work inside the carrier-sales structure Debbie has already built, and you'll coordinate closely with dispatch/operations to keep freight moving. Your job isn't just to cover today's load - it's to grow a bench of qualified, vetted carriers who call Navifreight first when they have capacity. Your measure of success: loads covered on time, at a margin that protects the company, with carriers who want to keep working with us. Have 40 hours per week available for the following: Build and maintain strong day-to-day relationships with trucking companies, owner-operators, dispatchers, and drivers - the kind of relationships where they pick up when Navifreight calls. Identify, vet, and onboard new qualified carriers to expand the network - confirming authority, insurance, and safety record (FMCSA/SAFER) before they haul a load. Source and secure carrier capacity for open freight using load boards (DAT, Truckstop.com, etc.) and direct carrier outreach. Negotiate rates within the company's margin standards, following the three-carrier-call minimum before quoting or accepting a rate. Match carriers and equipment to customer freight requirements - right truck, right lane, right timeline. Track shipments in progress and proactively communicate pickup, transit, and delivery status to dispatch and customers. Identify and resolve delays, breakdowns, coverage gaps, and other service issues before they become customer-facing problems - escalating per the escalation rule for difficult loads (Mike to confirm current version). Maintain accurate, current carrier and shipment records in company TMS/dispatch system - name to confirm. Coordinate daily with Debbie and dispatch/operations to keep coverage aligned with what customers actually need. Stay current on market conditions, capacity, and lane-specific rate trends so quotes stay competitive without giving away margin. Requirements Transportation, trucking, logistics, freight brokerage, dispatch, or sales experience preferred - carrier-side or brokerage-side both count. Strong communication skills - professional but easy on the phone. Carriers need to trust the person on the other end of the line, not just tolerate them. Comfortable with a high volume of calls, cold outreach, and daily rate negotiation. Working knowledge of carrier compliance basics: DOT authority, insurance requirements, FMCSA/SAFER safety scores. Familiarity with load boards (DAT, Truckstop.com) and TMS/dispatch software - or the ability to learn quickly. Organized and able to juggle multiple open loads and carrier conversations at once without dropping the ball. Self-motivated, dependable, and goal-oriented - this role runs on follow-through more than credentials. Comfortable holding a firm line on rate and margin without damaging the relationship. Pay: $41,500.00 - $63,500.00 per year Benefits: Dental insurance Health insurance Paid time off Vision insurance Work Location: In person
