As a Cargo Van OTR Driver, you will be responsible for safely transporting cargo, managing deliveries efficiently, and ensuring customer satisfaction on every route. Duties Safely operate a cargo van or box truck over long-distance routes, adhering to all traffic regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards Load and unload cargo using manual handling techniques and material handling equipment such as pallet jacks when necessary Deliver goods to customers promptly, ensuring accurate order fulfillment and proper handling of items during transit Conduct pre-trip inspections of the vehicle to confirm it is in safe operating condition, including checking weight limits and vehicle systems Maintain detailed records of deliveries, route logs, and any incidents using mobile devices or onboard technology Communicate effectively with dispatchers regarding route progress, delivery status, and any issues encountered on the road Practice safe lifting practices during loading/unloading activities, especially when handling heavy or bulky items such as pallets or boxes Skills Proven experience in delivery driving, courier services, or warehouse operations involving manual handling and heavy lifting Familiarity with commercial truck driving, box trucks, or van drivers’ responsibilities including adherence to traffic laws and DOT regulations Ability to operate manual transmission vehicles confidently and safely over extended routes Strong customer service skills to ensure positive interactions during deliveries and resolve any concerns professionally Knowledge of warehouse operations, material handling equipment like pallet jacks, and safe lifting practices Comfortable using mobile devices for route navigation, communication, and documentation purposes Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks involving weight handling in the workplace with safety awareness at all times This role is ideal for energetic individuals eager to hit the road daily while maintaining a focus on safety, efficiency, and excellent customer experiences.
