Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated cargo tank Transport Trailer Technician/ (prefereably a registereed inspector) to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of heavy-duty transport trailers and equipment. Your expertise will ensure the fleets we service remain safe, reliable, and compliant with industry standards. Key Responsibilities DOT Testing: Perform annual and 5-year specialized cargo tank testing—including External Visual (V), Internal Visual (I), Leakage (K), and Hydrostatic/Pneumatic Pressure (P) tests per 49 CFR § 180.407 . ASME Code Repair & Fabrication: Execute code-compliant welding repairs, alterations, and custom fabrication on high-pressure vessel shells (MC 331) adhering to strict National Board "R" stamp and ASME Section VIII "U" stamp regulations. Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Utilize ultrasonic thickness gauges to monitor shell wear, and perform or assist with magnetic particle or dye penetrant testing to identify micro-cracks. Component Service: Troubleshoot, test, and repair high-pressure piping networks, emergency discharge control mechanisms, thermal reliefs, remote shut-offs, and internal valves. Chassis & Roadability Maintenance: Perform heavy mechanical repairs on transport trailer components, including air brake systems (ABS), heavy-duty suspensions, and landing gear. Documentation: Complete, sign, and maintain precise legal inspection records, test logs, and ASME Form R-1/U-1 data reports. Skills & Qualifications Registered Inspector Status: (preferred but not required) meet the FMCSA legal definitions of a "Registered Inspector" under 49 CFR § 171.8 (combining a high school diploma/GED with at least 3 years of verifiable cargo tank inspection experience, or holding a relevant engineering degree/associate degree with 1–2 years of experience). ASME Welding Proficiency: (prefered but not required) experience with pressure vessel welding processes (GMAW/FCAW/GTAW) on carbon steel and aluminum. Must be able to pass our facility's weld test. NDT Competency: Hands-on experience with ultrasonic thickness testing (UT). Safety & Environment: Comprehensive training in OSHA Confined Space Entry protocols and safe vessel purging/venting practices for hazardous ladings (propane, anhydrous ammonia).
