Duties Safely operate tractor-trailers equipped with refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or specialized carriers for automobile transportation. Load and unload vehicles using manual handling techniques, forklifts, or other equipment, ensuring proper cargo handling and securement. Navigate over the road (OTR) routes utilizing GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules efficiently. Comply with all FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations, DOT (Department of Transportation) standards, and hazardous materials regulations when transporting dangerous goods or hazardous materials. Securely load vehicles onto trailers, ensuring compliance with logistics cargo handling procedures and safety protocols. Conduct routine inspections of trucks and trailers before and after trips, reporting any maintenance issues or safety concerns promptly. Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, delivery records, and inspection reports in accordance with regulatory requirements. Communicate effectively with dispatch teams to coordinate routes, deliveries, and any unforeseen issues during transit. Ensure all deliveries are completed on time while adhering to safety standards for truck driving and delivery driving roles. Experience Proven experience in commercial truck driving, particularly with tractor-trailers or similar heavy-duty vehicles. Prior automobile transportation experience is highly preferred, including load & unload procedures for freight vehicles. Familiarity with route driving across various regions, including OTR routes requiring extended periods on the road. Knowledge of FMCSA regulations, hazardous materials regulations, DOT compliance, and safety protocols related to truck loading/unloading and dangerous goods transport. Experience operating refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, or dump trucks is a plus. Ability to handle manual transmission trucks confidently and safely for extended periods of time. Skills in using GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and execution. Certification or experience in forklift operation can be advantageous for cargo handling tasks.
