Job Purpose


The Camp Operations Coordinator supports the City Manager in overseeing camp operations throughout the Denver region, with primary responsibilities based in Denver and additional support extending into Boulder, Fort Collins, Highlands Ranch, and Parker. This role is essential to ensuring smooth and successful camp execution across multiple locations.

Key responsibilities include managing and organizing equipment and supplies, coordinating and facilitating staff trainings alongside the City Manager and seasonal Camp Managers, and providing on-site support throughout the summer. On-site responsibilities may include assisting with staff management, scheduling, activity coordination, and general operational problem‑solving to ensure camps run efficiently and safely.

During active camp months, the work schedule may shift from the standard Monday–Friday schedule to a Sunday–Thursday schedule.


Duties and Responsibilities


Seasonal Hiring

  • Attend job fairs and career events, collaborate with local community groups and schools to find our future Pedalheads Instructors and volunteers

Marketing

  • Support on the ground marketing by attending events, connecting with local schools, preschools, and daycares, distributing marketing materials and coordinating with the marketing department and regional teams to meet registration goals

Camp Management

  • Establish positive and influential relationships with Camp Leaders, Instructors, and Volunteers
  • Provide camp staff with feedback regarding their engagement with campers and guardians; their execution of teaching principles and their execution of lesson plans
  • Ensure that camp procedures, policies and safety standards are being followed and upheld to Pedalheads standards
  • Help foster a positive environment for camp staff, children and parents/guardians
  • Be actively involved in delivering quality experiences to all campers (lead games/activities) 
  • Organize and maintain camp equipment and assist with the delivery of equipment to sites and storage
  • Ensure camps are set-up to Pedal heads standards (equipment, signage, etc.)
  • Beon-sit eat one or more of your assigned camps daily during camp season  
  • Visit underperforming sites regularly and work with Camp Leaders to promote performance improvements  
  • Work with Camp Managers during the summer with staff scheduling issues, helping to source instructors when additional staff are required
  • Fill in for Camp Managers during absences when needed
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with site hosts and deal with issues or concerns raised by hosts in an effective and timely manner 

Customer Service

  • Always be willing to go the extra mile to engage with customers and provide an excellent customer experience
  • Proactively interact with parents/ guardians and children on-site and communicate with parents/guardians regarding their camper’s well-being and experience at camp
  • Respond to customer concerns in a timely and professional manner, always aiming to provide solutions that ensure resolution
  • Mentor and encourage camp staff to engage and communicate with parents/ guardians regularly

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience managing summer camps and/or teams of leaders/instructors
  • Hands on experience with children’s programs/summer camps or in coaching, teaching, instructing children ages 3 to 8 years old
  • Must be competent with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel to areas of responsibility
  • Knowledge and understanding of the city and communities 
  • Valid First Aid Certificate 
  • Must pass a background check upon hire

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to work for extended periods while standing and being physically active.
  • Confidence riding a bicycle whilst leading groups of riders on and off the road and teaching general bike-handling skills.

Additional Assets:

  • Degree in Education, Sports Manage mentor related field preferred or equivalent combination of professional experiences
  • Supervisory and/or hiring experience, especially with ages 15-25

The Camp Operations Coordinator has no direct reports but will assist the City Manager with supervising the activities of the Camp Leadership and Instructor teams within their assigned regional area.
