Calahan (Yard Jockey Operator)
ReConserve of TennesseeJob Overview We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Calahan Yard Jockey Operator to join our dynamic logistics team. In this role, you will be responsible for efficiently maneuvering tractor-trailers and freight equipment within our yard, ensuring smooth and safe operations. Your expertise in truck movement, adherence to safety regulations, and ability to coordinate with drivers and warehouse staff will be vital to maintaining optimal yard productivity. Responsibilities Safely operate yard tractors and tractor-trailers to move freight containers, trailers, and equipment within the yard area. Use GPS navigation systems and yard management software to accurately position trailers for loading, unloading, or storage. Load and unload freight cargo using manual handling techniques. Coordinate with delivery drivers and warehouse personnel to facilitate timely trailer swaps, pickups, and deliveries. Comply with FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration), DOT (Department of Transportation), hazardous materials regulations, and other safety standards during all operations. Conduct routine inspections of trailers for damage or safety issues before movement; report any concerns promptly. Maintain accurate logs of trailer movements, load/unload activities, and yard inventory in accordance with company policies. Skills Proven experience operating trailers, dump trucks or tractor-trailers in a logistics or transportation setting. Strong knowledge of GPS navigation systems and yard management tools for route optimization. Operate heavy equipment to cover breaks, lunches and absences. Ability to manually handle freight cargo safely while adhering to manual handling best practices. Skilled in truck loading/unloading procedures with an emphasis on safety and efficiency. Experience with unloading dump trailer and operating in tight spaces . Valid commercial driver’s license (CDL) with endorsements relevant to tractor-trailer operation. Minimum of three years tractor-trailer experience. Experience operating a Front-end Loader is a plus. Ability to read, comprehend and complete basic checklists, forms or other related documents. Shift Hours: 2 am to 10:30 am or 10:30 am to 2 pm. will include weekends ReConserve of Tennessee is an equal opportunity employer.
