SUMMARY OF POSITION:
Under direct supervision of Purchasing Manager, support Out-Process team and functions company wide. Work closely with OP team, suppliers, technical staff, and program management.
- Issue purchase orders for Out‑Process subcontractors using job traveler information and instructions from Program Managers.
- Confirm purchase orders and delivery dates.
- Maintain follow‑up responsibility with suppliers to ensure commitment dates are met.
- Provide critical information and updates to Program Managers and other team members.
- Work with Receiving, Quality, Engineering, and Accounting to resolve discrepancies and issues.
- Provide professional customer service by responding to planning or supplier inquiries, communicating changes and schedule impacts, and escalating potential issues to the Purchasing Manager.
- Participate in production meetings.
- Provide back‑up coverage for other OP team members.
- Some evening and weekend coverage required upon short notice.
- Flexibility to travel to and work from any FMI plant in the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Train and mentor new OP team members.
- Publish regular and ad‑hoc reports.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree or Purchasing/Supply Chain Certification, or equivalent combination of experience and skills.
- Minimum 4 years of purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in Contract Manufacturing industries preferred.
- Analytical and interpersonal skills are essential.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to manage frequently changing priorities.
- Intermediate computer skills (Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with ERP systems (Epicor Vantage or SAP preferred).
- Ability to identify parts based on 2D or 3D drawings.
- Ability to interface professionally with suppliers via phone, email, or in person.
