Position Summary:
The Buyer is responsible for supporting procurement activities for renewable energy and infrastructure projects by managing purchase orders, coordinating with vendors and OEMs, tracking equipment deliveries, conducting sourcing activities, and mitigating procurement-related risks. This role serves as a key liaison between project teams, suppliers, distributors, and manufacturers to ensure materials and services are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with project requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement Execution & Purchase Order Management
- Issue and manage purchase orders (POs) for equipment, long-lead materials, and subcontracted services in accordance with project budgets and schedules.
- Maintain accurate procurement records, including pricing, delivery dates, contract terms, and supplier information within the ERP system (e.g., NetSuite).
- Review purchase requisitions and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure completeness, accuracy, and alignment with project requirements.
Vendor Management & Supplier Coordination
- Serve as the primary liaison between project managers, distributors, suppliers, and Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs).
- Monitor production schedules and proactively expedite orders to help ensure on-time delivery.
- Track supplier production, shipment, and delivery milestones to support project schedules.
- Foster strong supplier relationships while holding vendors accountable to contractual commitments and delivery expectations.
- Escalate and help resolve supply chain issues, delays, and delivery risks that may impact project schedules.
Commercial Terms & Risk Mitigation
- Support the Procurement Manager in negotiating pricing, payment terms, warranties, delivery schedules, INCOTERMS, and other commercial agreements.
- Process vendor change orders, pricing adjustments, and shipping modifications while ensuring compliance with contractual requirements.
- Review vendor submittals, factory acceptance testing (FAT) schedules, and shipping documentation in coordination with project and logistics teams.
- Identify procurement-related risks and recommend mitigation strategies to minimize project impacts and cost exposure.
Sourcing & Market Analysis
- Prepare and issue Requests for Quotation (RFQs) to suppliers and subcontractors.
- Evaluate proposals, perform commercial bid comparisons, and provide cost-benefit recommendations to support purchasing decisions.
- Monitor commodity pricing trends, market conditions, and supply chain developments impacting material costs and lead times.
- Support strategic sourcing initiatives aimed at improving supplier performance, reducing costs, and increasing procurement efficiency.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with Engineering, Project Management, Operations, and Logistics teams to ensure timely procurement and delivery of project materials.
- Communicate procurement status, supplier performance, and potential risks to internal stakeholders.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance procurement processes and project execution efficiency.
Required Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Finance, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education, training, and relevant work experience will be considered.
Experience:
- 2-5 years of experience in purchasing, procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management.
- Prior experience in renewable energy, EPC, utility, construction, manufacturing, or other project-based industries preferred.
- Experience managing purchase orders, supplier relationships, and procurement processes.
- Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, or similar platforms.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and experience using project tracking tools.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
- Strong negotiation, sourcing, and supplier management skills.
- Attention to detail with the ability to interpret and manage contractual requirements.
- Proactive vendor expediting and issue-resolution capabilities.
- Familiarity with commercial contract terms, including warranties, liquidated damages, force majeure, payment terms, and INCOTERMS.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively in a project-based environment.

- Ability to communicate effectively via phone, video conferencing, and email.
- Ability to occasionally lift and move up to 15 pounds.
- Ability to remain stationary for extended periods while performing computer-based work.
