Buyer/ Purchasing Specialist

Overview We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Purchasing / Buyer to join the Del West USA team. This position will be responsible for coordinating purchasing activities, supplier relationships, raw materials, inventory, scheduling, and procurement activities to support the company's manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of purchasing, procurement, or buying experience, preferably within a manufacturing environment. This individual should be proactive, detail-oriented, comfortable coordinating multiple priorities, and able to effectively communicate with suppliers and internal departments. Key Responsibilities Coordinate day-to-day purchasing and procurement activities to support production and operational requirements. Support resource planning and Tool Crib coordinative, ensuring appropriate availability and control of tools and resources. Coordinate raw materials, including purchasing, availability, inventory levels, and delivery requirements. Prepare, place, monitor, and maintain purchase orders while ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. Track orders and follow up with suppliers regarding confirmations, lead times, delays, and delivery schedules. Develop and maintain strong working relationships with domestic and international suppliers. Negotiate pricing, terms, lead times, and other purchasing requirements with suppliers. Coordinate outsourcing activities, both domestic and foreign, including coordinating requirements, schedules, shipments, and supplier follow-up. Coordinate project scheduling and purchasing requirements to ensure materials and services are available according to project timelines. Monitor inventory levels, usage, demand, and purchasing requirements to support production schedules and avoid shortages or excess inventory. Analyze purchasing and inventory data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement. Monitor supplier performance and address issues related to quality, delivery, cost, and service. · Initiate and oversee supplier corrective actions through full resolution. Assist with or lead supplier audits as needed. Lead and support cost reduction activities, including identifying cost-saving opportunities, negotiating with suppliers, and implementing purchasing improvements. Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, inventory, and other related records. Perform accurate and timely data entry into purchasing and inventory systems. Work closely with Production, Planning, Quality, Engineering, Accounting, and other departments to ensure purchasing activities align with business needs. Identify potential material, supplier, or scheduling issues and proactively communicate and resolve them before they impact operations. Maintain organized documentation and records related to purchasing, suppliers, orders, and inventory. Provide support, guidance, and directions to purchasing-related staff as applicable. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications 5+ years of experience in purchasing, procurement, buying, supply chain, or a related field, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Experience developing and managing professional relationships with suppliers. Demonstrated ability to monitor multiple supplier performance characteristics, including quality, delivery, cost, and responsiveness. Experience initiating and conducting supplier audits and corrective actions. Strong experience with vendor management, negotiations, order tracking, and supplier follow-up. Experience with raw material management, inventory analysis, resource planning, and scheduling. Experience managing domestic and international outsourcing activities preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to effectively communicate with suppliers, employees, coordinate, and cross-functional teams.
