Job Title: Buyer, Purchasing II Location: Peoria, IL Job Type: Contract Expected Hours per Week: 40 Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM Pay Range: $17.00 - $22.00 per hour Job Description: We are seeking a Buyer, Purchasing II to support procurement and supplier management activities for a leading manufacturing organization. This role is responsible for analyzing purchasing data, supporting category strategy development, managing supplier relationships, negotiating contracts, and ensuring cost, quality, and performance objectives are achieved. The ideal candidate will have a background in purchasing, finance, or supply chain functions and enjoy working collaboratively with cross-functional stakeholders to drive business results. Key Responsibilities Review and evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, service, support, availability, and overall value. Approve purchase orders, solicit bids, and review requisitions for goods and services. Conduct quantitative analysis using Excel to support category strategy development and execution. Manage supplier relationships and maintain accurate supplier performance scorecards. Support contract negotiations and implement total cost of ownership strategies across indirect manufacturing equipment categories. Partner with stakeholders throughout purchasing and sourcing initiatives to ensure alignment and successful project execution. Support equipment lifecycle management, including spare parts and service strategies. Assist with capital projects and contract execution in collaboration with legal and business teams. Evaluate contract performance and recommend corrective actions or improvements when necessary. Required Qualifications Associate degree required in business, finance, supply chain, or a related field. 2-4 years of purchasing, procurement, finance, or related business experience. Strong understanding of costs, working capital, and financial performance metrics. Excellent verbal and written communication, negotiation, and relationship management skills. Strong facilitation skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects and priorities. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other business software tools. Ability to analyze financial reports, supplier proposals, and technical data. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, finance, supply chain, or a related field. Experience working with CBS, NextGen, SIA, Guided Buy, or similar procurement systems. Knowledge of eProcurement platforms and purchasing technologies. Experience managing supplier relationships and participating in contract negotiations. General understanding of manufacturing equipment used in production environments. Why This Role?
