Position Summary The Buyer reports to the Director of Purchasing and is based out of our Boardman, OH Location. This individual is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing assigned materials, packaging, equipment, and indirect spend categories to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures continuity of supply, manages inventory and replenishment activities, negotiates commercial terms with suppliers, and develops strong supplier relationships to support company objectives. The Buyer works closely with Production, Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Accounting to ensure material availability, cost competitiveness, and operational efficiency. Primary Responsibilities Include Manage the procurement of assigned packaging materials, ingredients, equipment, parts, and indirect spend categories to support manufacturing operations. Create, issue, and maintain purchase orders while ensuring accuracy, timely processing, and delivery of materials. Monitor inventory levels and purchasing requirements to ensure continuity of supply while maintaining appropriate inventory balances. Track and expedite open purchase orders, proactively resolving supplier delays, shortages, and other supply chain issues. Develop and maintain strong supplier relationships and serve as the primary point of contact for assigned suppliers. Lead sourcing, supplier selection, quotation, and negotiation activities to achieve competitive pricing, service levels, and quality standards. Partner with Production, Operations, Engineering, Quality, and other stakeholders to support business needs, new projects, and changing demand requirements. Procure equipment, maintenance parts, PPE, uniforms, office supplies, and other indirect materials as required. Review purchasing, receiving, and invoice documentation to ensure accuracy and support timely payment processing. Identify opportunities for cost savings, inventory optimization, supplier performance improvement, and process efficiencies. Education And Experience Minimum Required Qualifications Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree preferred 6 months - 2 years’ experience Additional Preferred Qualifications Strong analytical skills Strong communication skills, both written and oral Highly motivated; results oriented; able to learn quickly Asks questions; challenges assumptions Attention to detail; organized Strong Excel skills and computer savvy Physical Requirements & Working Conditions This position requires sufficient physical ability to work in a typical office setting; driving a motor vehicle and occasionally working in the field. FREQUENT: sitting, upward and downward flexion of neck; fine finger dexterity and light to moderate finger pressure to include extended periods of keyboard and mouse use, side-to-side turning of neck, walking, standing, bending and stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting at waist, moderate wrist torque to twist equipment knobs and dials.
