Buyer / Material Expeditor Position: Full Time Material Expeditor Reports To: Logistics Manager Shift: 9/80 (7am-4:30pm Mon-Thu, 7am-330pm Fri / Every other Fri off) Essential Functions: A Buyer / Material Expeditor is a professional who purchases goods and tracks shipments to make sure everything arrives on time. They will ensure that materials and components are delivered on time and in the right quantities to support production and operations. This position is a key part of the supply chain and logistics sectors. Compiles and maintains material and parts inventory and status information to expedite movement of material and parts between production areas, according to predetermined production schedules and order priorities. Responsible for negotiating vendor terms, prices and delivery schedules using knowledge of budget and schedule requirements. Candidate should be accomplished and decisive negotiator, have strong people and communication skills, which can be useful in developing relationships and solving problems. Candidate must be computer literate and proficient in the use of word processing and spreadsheet programs. Specific duties Monitor the flow of materials from procurement to delivery Negotiates best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements Identify and resolve issues with the supply chain Maintain vendor relationships for pricing and delivery strategies Monitor shipments to ensure that goods arrive on time, and in the event of problems trace shipments and follow up Maintains pricing histories and other vendor records Performs other related duties as assigned Create purchase orders for materials, goods or supplies, send to suppliers, and track the status of all orders Assist in price and delivery for request for quotes and proposals Skills and qualifications Excellent communication skills Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Strong problem-solving skills Proficiency with Microsoft Office Experience with MRP systems Ability to maintain confidentiality Minimum Requirements/Qualifications Applicant will be required to take a drug test.
