Buyer - Manufacturing Location: Flat Rock, MI Salary: $80,000–$90,000 Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire | On-Site About the Role A manufacturer is seeking an experienced Buyer to support purchasing, supplier management, and material sourcing for engineered products and production requirements. This role will manage supplier relationships, purchasing activity, cost, lead times, and delivery while partnering closely with internal manufacturing teams. What You’ll Do Manage purchasing activity for production and project requirements. Source components and identify qualified suppliers. Request and compare supplier quotations. Negotiate pricing, lead times, terms, and delivery commitments. Create and manage purchase orders. Monitor open orders and resolve supply or delivery issues. Develop alternate sources when availability or cost creates risk. Track supplier performance and address recurring issues. Support cost-reduction and purchasing improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate purchasing information within company systems. Coordinate with internal teams to ensure material requirements are met. What You’ll Need Strong purchasing or sourcing experience within a manufacturing environment. Experience managing suppliers, quotations, and purchase orders. Strong negotiation and commercial decision-making skills. Ability to evaluate supplier proposals and resolve purchasing issues. Experience working with ERP or purchasing systems. Strong organization, communication, and follow-through. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Preferred Experience purchasing components for engineered or industrial products Supplier development experience International sourcing exposure Cost analysis experience Experience supporting custom or low-volume manufacturing What We’re Looking For A commercially strong manufacturing buyer who can manage suppliers, negotiate effectively, control cost and lead time, and keep critical purchasing activity moving .
