Buyer – Procurement / Supply Chain Location: Holland, MI 49424 Schedule: 7:00 AM–4:00 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Position Overview: We are seeking a Buyer to support procurement and material management activities within a manufacturing environment. The Buyer will be responsible for procuring and monitoring the movement of materials required to meet production needs while maintaining inventory at planned levels. This role will work closely with suppliers, Engineering, Production, Planning, Logistics, Finance, Quality, and Procurement teams to ensure materials are available on time, meet required standards, and are obtained at the best overall value. The ideal candidate will have 1–3+ years of purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience , preferably within a manufacturing environment, along with strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. Key Responsibilities Manage day-to-day purchasing and procurement activities to support production requirements. Monitor material requirements using engineering and production schedules. Maintain inventory at planned levels and identify potential shortages or excess inventory. Manage supplier relationships, performance, delivery, quality, and commercial issues. Negotiate pricing, terms, contracts, and other supplier agreements. Support annual sourcing goals through RFQs, supplier qualification, renegotiations, and cost-reduction initiatives. Identify opportunities for cost savings through supplier negotiations, spend analysis, sourcing strategies, and potential engineering redesign recommendations. Manage daily New Buy, Late, and Kanban reports and take appropriate follow-up actions. Support internal and external Kanban programs , including supplier setup, maintenance, and education. Create, modify, and discontinue supplier VMI (Vendor Managed Inventory) agreements as required. Conduct purchase requisition and indirect purchasing activities. Monitor supplier delivery performance and work toward achieving 95% supplier on-time delivery . Monitor incoming material quality and work toward achieving 98% incoming inspection pass rates . Partner with Inspectors and Engineers to resolve supplier quality issues, non-conformances, and material variances. Assist with Supplier Scorecards, Corrective Action Plans, supplier audits, site visits, and performance reviews. Research and communicate ECO (Engineering Change Order) cost impacts to internal departments. Coordinate supplier notifications and purchase order updates related to engineering changes. Perform Oracle new-part setup and ongoing part maintenance. Analyze Bills of Materials (BOMs) for cost, lead-time accuracy, and material requirements. Work with the Global Procurement Management Team on supplier projects and cost-saving initiatives. Support inventory audits and investigate inventory discrepancies. Assist with receiving, incoming inspection, and Accounts Payable issues to ensure materials are properly received, returned, and paid. Participate in Kaizen and continuous improvement events and implement procurement-related process improvements. Participate in spend audits and recommend changes based on purchasing and supplier data. Assist with monthly department safety audits and reporting. Support month-end reconciliation activities. Reconcile purchasing card transactions through Concur. Analyze purchasing data and develop recommendations for improved cost, quality, inventory, and supplier performance. Perform other procurement and supply chain responsibilities as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, International Business, Procurement, or a related field , or equivalent experience. 1–3+ years of purchasing, procurement, buying, or supply chain experience.
