Buyer, Frozen/Bakery

Job Summary: Coordinate and identify product suppliers, negotiate price and quantity terms, and establish long-term contracts to ensure an adequate supply of high-quality products for Foodservice Distribution at competitive prices. Maintain established service levels for product in-stock. Assist with special order requests. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and performs any duty assigned to best serve the company. Job Responsibilities: Select vendors based on their ability to provide a continuous supply of product; overall service level; responsiveness to the market, as shown through product innovation; product quality and value; relationships with competitors; and understanding of the marketplace. Maintain vendor relationships by resolving invoicing, product, or delivery issues to ensure quality service and long-term relationships. Select products based on application to our market, product performance, alternate sources of supply, and the vendor's overall reputation. Negotiate prices and quantities based on customer orders, economic order point (volume discounts vs. efficient use of warehousing space), product promotion, and overall market conditions. Negotiate long-term contracts based upon the same considerations and the need for continuous supply. Serve distribution centers in emergency situations by obtaining product and delivering it on an expedient basis. Provide product and pricing information to the sales force and recommend pricing structures for product lines based on volume and margin considerations. Performs other related duties as assigned. High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience 1 - 2 years purchasing or related area Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree: Business, supply chain, or related area 2 - 4 years purchasing or related area within the foodservice industry - specifically focusing on frozen foods
