Henderson Harbor GroupThe Buyer is responsible for managing procurement and planning activities for assigned commodities, product lines, or suppliers. This position balances inventory investment with customer service requirements by utilizing planning tools, forecasting data, and supplier management practices. The role operates with moderate supervision and independently resolves most purchasing and material planning issues. Primary Responsibilities Plan and purchase materials based on MRP recommendations, forecasts, and demand requirements. Manage inventory levels to meet production and operational requirements. Analyze purchase requirements and determine appropriate order quantities and timing. Monitor supplier performance and drive improvements in delivery, quality, and responsiveness. Develop and maintain supplier relationships. Manage shortages, expedite critical materials, and communicate recovery plans. Review planning parameters including lead times, safety stock levels, and order policies. Participate in supplier meetings and performance reviews. Support engineering changes, product launches, and phase-out activities. Analyze inventory trends and recommend inventory optimization opportunities. Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, quality, sales, and operations teams. Identify and implement process improvement initiatives. Job Requirements Education Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations Management, or related field preferred. Experience 3–5 years of purchasing, planning, inventory management, or supply chain experience. Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
