Summary/Objective The Buyer reports to the Director of Supply Chain Management and is responsible for source selection and procurement functions associated with the Company’s needs for direct and indirect materials, services, fixed assets, tooling, and select production materials. Products and services must be secured at competitive levels of cost, quality, and delivery in accordance with Company policies and performance standards. The role also includes timely planning, scheduling, and inventory control of assigned products and services, consistent with SAP requirements or as coordinated with the requestor. Initiate purchase orders and amendments for parts, services, and/or special tools Arrange for the submission and inspection of sample products as required Coordinate closely with plant engineering to ensure the timely execution of product and service sourcing activities Secure and analyze supplier quotes Negotiate pricing and terms with suppliers to meet cost, quality, and delivery targets Recommend suppliers based on cost-effectiveness, quality, and delivery performance Study market trends, price fluctuations, engineering developments, and manufacturing method improvements relevant to assigned responsibilities Advise company departments on sourcing decisions, with concurrence from a Senior Buyer and/or the Purchasing Manager Coordinate the planning of receipt schedules and inventory control parameters for assigned products and services in alignment with Systems, Applications, and Products in Data Processing (SAP) requirements or as directed by the requestor Facilitate quality assurance and engineering changes between internal departments and suppliers as needed Support the implementation of Purchasing strategies, under direction from a Senior Buyer and/or Director of Purchasing, to achieve Small Business and Disadvantaged Business Sourcing Program goals in accordance with company policies Conduct supplier site visits to qualify new sources and assist in resolving production, design, quality, or delivery issues Perform other related duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This position operates primarily in an office and manufacturing environment. The role routinely involves the use of standard office equipment, including computers, telephones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. While performing job duties, the incumbent may frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts within the manufacturing area. The noise level in the manufacturing environment is typically moderate. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position with some flexibility in work hours.
