Woodcraft Supply, LLCOverview The Buyer supports Woodcraft’s inventory and service objectives by developing and maintaining product forecasts, translating demand signals into purchasing decisions, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring appropriate inventory availability. The position uses sales history, promotional plans, lead times, seasonality, new-product activity, and other business inputs to improve forecast accuracy and balance customer service, inventory investment, and supply risk. Essential Functions Develop, maintain, and regularly review item-level and category-level forecasts for woodworking tools, accessories, and related products. Analyze historical sales, prior promotional performance, and results from similar items at comparable discount levels to develop accurate promotional demand forecasts and identify potential inventory requirements. Partner with other departments and other stakeholders to gather forecasting inputs and align purchasing plans with business activity. Monitor forecast performance and inventory results, including forecast variance, stock availability, excess inventory, slow-moving inventory, backorders, and supply risk; recommend and implement corrective actions within assigned authority. Use computerized inventory control and reporting systems to review product needs, maintain stocking objectives, and support data-based purchasing decisions. Manage assigned purchase orders from placement through receipt, including confirmation, expediting, schedule changes, issue resolution, returns, and communication with domestic and international suppliers. Maintain accurate purchasing, supplier, lead-time, cost, and product-planning information in applicable systems. Build effective supplier relationships and communicate expectations related to availability, timing, service, quality, and order execution. Prepare and communicate forecast, inventory, purchase-order, supplier-performance, and risk updates. Identify opportunities to improve forecasting methods, purchasing processes, data quality, inventory efficiency, and cross-functional planning. Work as a collaborative member of the Supply Chain team to achieve department and company inventory, service, and financial objectives. Qualifications and Education Requirements Degree in business related field, mathematics or equivalent work experience. Advanced knowledge of Excel and other Office products. Ability to analyze and evaluate data and make recommendations and decisions. Ability to prepare and present written and oral reports. Excellent math skills.
