Job Type: Fixed Term, Full-time

Contract Duration: 6 months, with the opportunity to transition to a permanent position based on business needs and individual performance.

Work Location: Onsite (Milton, ON)

Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000

 

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Develop and implement long & short-term procurement strategies designed to reduce costs and improve quality and service while meeting goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Manages purchasing of materials and supplies for the company. Appropriate processes, terminology, and specifications ensure accurate, cost-effective, and timely procurement requests.
  • Obtain information, data, or quotations; refer to database, industry sources, product sheets, and other resources; interview suppliers to obtain material specifications and prices.
  • Determines merchandise costs and formulates and coordinates merchandising policies and activities to ensure profit. Refers to catalogues, product sheets, and other resources and interviews suppliers to obtain specifications and prices. Secure competitive bids for industrial goods and services.
  • Determine if material on hand is in sufficient quantity by using the MRP report. Initiate purchase orders and warehouse transfer orders for supplies, packaging, and equipment. Ensure periodic inventory reviews and accuracy of inventory at 3PL.
  • Approve invoices for payment or return of merchandise. Review receiving slips on a daily basis.
  • Schedule production requirements for apple peeling
  • Coordinate cost savings through vendor selection and review; develop favorable contract agreements; resolve delivery or billing problems. Selection and reviews result in profitable, timely contracts.
  • Problems are resolved to the best outcome for all parties.
  • Establish and maintain vendor database. Oversee database or records of products purchased or transferred between locations.
  • Facilitate preparation and submission of purchase order contracts and arrangements with funding sources in accordance with reporting requirements. Contracts and funding arrangements are timely, accurate, documented, and according to guidelines.
  • Maintains a certificate of Analysis Program, documents are current, appropriate, and timely.
  • Participate in special projects as they may develop and as guided by Purchasing Department (Inventory count, etc.)
  • Other tasks as assigned.

 

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of purchasing or procurement experience, preferably in a food manufacturing or consumer packaged goods (CPG) environment.
  • Experience sourcing materials, negotiating with suppliers, and managing inventory in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and experienced using ERP (Microsoft D365) and purchasing systems.
  • Detail-oriented with a proactive, customer-focused approach and a continuous improvement mindset.

 

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • Dessert Manufacturing Facility or Bakery experience.
  • Strong BRC (or similar GFSI) knowledge or experience.
  • Lean Six Sigma certification.
