About The Position

Athena Farms is a foodservice distributor located in Forest Park, GA. We are currently looking for an experienced Buyer Assistant to join our team maintain proper inventory levels of assigned list of goods to sell while coordinating with the purchasing team to fulfill the daily shorts.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Create and email a daily Short Sheet and ensure all short items are listed with proper delivery days, key in items for appropriate delivery day, remove back orders from Entrée, ensure all short items are purchased, priced, and tagged in the warehouse
  • Aid PM Router by locating short items and/or rescheduling for a later delivery time or day, and communicating changes to the appropriate sales rep
  • Review pre-order report and ensure all items are purchased for future orders
  • Assist with negotiating best price available with vendors  
  • Maintain par levels on all items purchased
  • Report quality issues to vendors and ensure proper credits are received and reported accurately to the Director of Purchasing
  • Walk through coolers daily to check item inventory levels and quality
  • Run Miscellaneous report daily to make sure all items were priced correctly
  • Review ICS (Invoice Change Sheet) and send emails to sales about returned non-stock items, following up each day until items are sold - return to vendor when possible
  • Handle any special needs from the sales team
  • Enter all hand tickets from sales department and corresponding POs from receipts into Entrée  
  • Assist with receiving POs as needed, ensuring all are received by the end of the day
  • Create new vendors in Entrée, as needed
  • Purchase and pick up any items needed for stock on Saturdays
  • Correct pricing from Below Cost report daily
  • Maintain and update damaged and broken case list
  • Update Monthly and Weekly Specials with the Marketing Department
  • Update Locally grown list monthly with the Market Department

About You

  • Must be able to negotiate prices with vendors
  • Mandatory to work on the last day of each month for inventory
  • Must be highly detail oriented and organized
  • Must be able to understand organization priorities and meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus
  • Ability to work effectively during times of organizational stress, ambiguity, and change
  • Proficiency with email and Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving, and results
