Key Responsibilities

Ensure materials are available to support production by:

  • Reviewing MRP requirements and issuing purchase orders to meet production schedules.
  • Monitoring inventory levels, supplier performance, lead times, and material availability to minimize supply disruptions.
  • Identifying and resolving potential shortages, late deliveries, and other supply risks with a strong sense of urgency.
  • Reviewing purchasing, inventory, and forecasting data to support proactive decision-making.
  • Partnering with Planning, Logistics, Warehouse, Finance, and fellow Buyers to resolve supply challenges and maintain efficient operations.
  • Maintaining accurate purchasing documentation, supplier records, pricing, and material data within the ERP system (IFS).
  • Monitoring ingredient shelf life and inventory levels to reduce waste and prevent write-offs.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, ERP enhancements, and purchasing best practices.

Support informed business decisions by:

  • Providing purchasing recommendations and inventory insights to support production planning.
  • Maintaining accurate supplier, pricing, and delivery information within IFS.
  • Communicating supplier constraints, shipment delays, and potential production risks to internal stakeholders in a timely manner.

Manage purchasing costs by:

  • Supporting Procurement with demand planning ahead of supplier negotiations and contract renewals.
  • Resolving pricing discrepancies and ensuring invoices are processed accurately and on time.
  • Managing supplier non-conformance claims and securing credits when appropriate.
  • Monitoring inventory levels at co-manufacturing facilities to maintain minimum stock requirements.

Qualifications & Experience 

  • Post-secondary education in Purchasing, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in purchasing or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret purchasing, inventory, and forecasting data.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (IFS) and Power BI is considered an asset.

Compensation & Work Environment

  • Salary: $65,000-$75,000 annually, based on experience.
  • Annual Bonus: Eligible for a 10% performance-based bonus.
  • Work Environment: Hybrid role based at our Richmond Head Office. Beginning in September, our corporate teams will work four days per week in the office.
