Schrader PacificJob Summary We are seeking an experienced Buyer to manage direct and indirect procurement, evaluate global supply chains, negotiate supplier contracts, and maintain purchasing data in our ERP system. This position plays a critical role in controlling material costs, ensuring quality compliance, and driving plant growth and profitability. Responsibilities Procurement & Negotiation: Select direct and indirect material and service suppliers, issue RFQs, and negotiate contracts to secure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery terms. ERP System Maintenance: Execute daily purchase order entry and maintenance within our MAPICS ERP module; oversee file accuracy for purchasing and PC network functions. Quality & Audits: Serve as the purchasing representative for quality standards (IATF 16949 / TS 16949). Maintain supplier evaluation and rating systems, manage formal compliance documentation, and coordinate departmental audits. Market Trend Analysis: Conduct periodic commodity price comparisons, track market trends, and forecast supply constraints to implement cost-saving initiatives. Supplier Relations & Sourcing: Audit and rationalize existing and prospective sources of supply; maintain professional and ethical supplier relationships. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Serve as the primary liaison between suppliers and internal departments—including Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Marketing, Shipping/Receiving, and Accounting. Invoice Reconciliation: Assist Accounting with invoice discrepancies, establish supplier credit terms, and set up tax-exempt status for new vendors. Qualifications Required: 3 to 5 years of purchasing/procurement experience within a high-volume manufacturing operation. Strong background in contract negotiation, supplier auditing, and global sourcing. Solid understanding of MRP/ERP systems and procurement workflows. Ability to undergo occasional domestic travel within the U.S. Preferred: B.A. or B.S. degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field. Practical experience working within an ISO / IATF 16949 certified manufacturing environment. Professional certifications such as C.P.M., C.P.S.M., APICS, or ASQC.
