Position Title: Buyer

Location: Calgary, AB (T2B 3M1)

Job Type: Full Time Permanent

 

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Branch Manager, the Buyers’ duties and responsibilities will include but will not be limited to:

  • Maintaining accurate inventory levels in the warehouse.
  • Correctly ensure all costing is correct and up to date for all the items purchased, both in house and in outside storage.
  • Notify Sales Reps of upcoming price increases.
  • Purchasing products using a 10-week average as a guideline to determine usage and purchasing amounts.
  • Work with Sales Reps to make sure increase or decrease of volumes are being met.
  • Continue monitoring stock level and dates of product, production dates, best before dates, etc.
  • Watch out for dead stock and work with Sales Manager to help move it out.
  • Work with warehouse and let them know of any added items and or TBO items that are arriving.
  • Work with suppliers to ensure besting pricing is offered.
  • Watch for price increases and pre purchasing before the increase happens to guarantee aggressive pricing.
  • Work with General Manager in blending cost of existing stock with new arriving stock (fresh beef, fresh pork, fresh bacon, and any other blending need).

 

 

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 3 to 5 years of related industry experience preferred.
  • Background protein is a strong asset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Office, etc.)
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, customers, colleagues, and staff.
  • Must possess a valid Drivers license.
