The Opportunity As our Buyer, you’ll be responsible for keeping the materials and supplies our operation needs moving. From raw materials and packaging to non-stock items, office supplies and QC supplies. You’ll work closely with multiple internal departments, vendors, and logistics to ensure materials arrive when they’re needed and issues are addressed before they impact production. This is a hands-on role for someone who is organized, resourceful, persistent and comfortable working with urgency. What You’ll Be Responsible For Monitor the Critical List for supply issues affecting current production and work with internal teams to find solutions Constant, open communication with internal departments (production, packaging and warehouse inventory) Maintain and update inventory and vendor information within the ERP system, including minimum/maximum levels, lead times, item requirements and vendor information Prepare purchase orders to secure inventory for just-in-time production Monitor and expedite scheduled orders to ensure on-time delivery Follow up on open and overdue orders and resolve delays quickly Identify and address shortages, delays and procurement issues Communicate with Accounting to resolve credit holds that could impact order delivery Prepare reports as required, including fill rates, transportation costs and other procurement metrics Participate in year-end inventory counts and data compilation Provide updated inventory information when preparing customer private-label requests Validate purchase order pricing against vendor invoices Qualifications 3+ years of relevant purchasing/procurement experience in a food manufacturing environment Experience working in a just-in-time production environment Fully bilingual in French and English Experience with food safety practices, including GMPs, SOPs and HACCP Excellent Microsoft Excel skills Strong experience working with an ERP system Strong organizational, communication and follow-up skills We’re a dynamic, family-operated company where people work together, move quickly and support one another.
