Buyer Shelby Performance Job Type: Full-Time Position Summary Shelby Performance is seeking a highly organized and dependable Buyer to support our purchasing, production, and inventory operations. This position is responsible for purchasing materials and components, maintaining appropriate inventory levels, communicating with suppliers, and ensuring parts arrive on time to support production requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and able to balance cost, quality, inventory, and delivery requirements. Key Responsibilities Purchase parts, materials, supplies, and services required to support daily production. Create and manage purchase orders from initial placement through delivery. Monitor inventory levels and identify upcoming material requirements. Review production schedules and purchasing needs to prevent material shortages. Communicate regularly with suppliers regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules. Follow up on open and past-due purchase orders. Expedite critical materials when necessary to prevent production delays. Work with suppliers to resolve shortages, incorrect shipments, damaged materials, and other purchasing issues. Obtain and compare supplier quotes to support competitive pricing. Assist with supplier negotiations involving pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, and other purchasing terms. Develop and maintain positive relationships with current and potential suppliers. Coordinate closely with Production, Warehouse, Quality, Accounting, and Management. Assist with inventory accuracy, cycle counting, and inventory discrepancy investigations. Review purchasing and inventory data to identify opportunities to reduce excess inventory and improve material flow. Maintain accurate purchasing records, supplier information, pricing, and documentation. Support new product launches and changing production requirements by sourcing necessary components. Identify potential supply-chain risks and communicate concerns before they impact production. Assist with supplier performance evaluations related to quality, delivery, pricing, and responsiveness. Perform other purchasing and operational duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous purchasing, procurement, inventory, supply-chain, or manufacturing experience preferred. Automotive or manufacturing experience is a plus. Strong organizational and time-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Comfortable communicating and negotiating with suppliers. Ability to work effectively with production and warehouse teams. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and general computer systems. Experience working with ERP, MRP, inventory, or purchasing software is preferred. Ability to analyze inventory levels, purchasing requirements, and supplier performance.
