SUMMARY Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Buyer handles the day-to-day responsibilities that support the purchasing of all raw materials and hardware to meet production demand and other departments. The Buyer’s duties are broad-based, requiring an ability to identify priorities and make adjustments and decisions where necessary, and perform the role in a positive, confident, cohesive manner and in coordination with Director of Operations. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Understands and follows all procedures and work instructions associated with Purchasing functions in compliance with company policies. Directly responsible for the requirements and purchase orders of all raw materials and hardware to support our sales order backlog. Strong negotiation skills with pricing, MOQs, etc. Required to collaborate with QA and ENG team about flow down instructions, specifications, requirements, ASL, etc. Ability to be assertive and firm with suppliers to protect PO due dates. Responsible for inventory control which includes ownership of all raw materials and hardware. Monitors inventory level and timeliness of materials and goods supplied and follow up the status of purchase orders with vendors to ensure timely delivery; communicate status of orders with internal customers to ensure that their needs are met. Manage inventory levels, stock checks, ABC inventory analysis. Assist Receiving and Accounting in reconciling order receipts and invoices. Run Daily Milestones, Raw Material Reports and Open Order Reports that pertain to Purchase Orders and requirements. Perform PO Contract Reviews in production que. Play a backup role in planning, OSP and MRO. Assist with expediting orders both internally and externally. May assist in production planning related functions as required. In accordance and adherence with company policy, promotes safety by always working in a safe manner Support outside services and other functional areas as assigned. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university or equivalent experience Experience in a manufacturing setting with an understanding of business flow and operations. Comfortable with technology and utilization of personal computers. ERP experience strongly desired. Strong Excel skills are mandatory. Comfortable with data extraction, generating custom reports, etc. Strong written and oral communication skills with proven ability to interact effectively and positively with other employees, management, and external professionals. Strong problem recognition and problem-solving skills are a must, as is self-motivation, assertiveness, and a positive attitude. Skill in preparing and analyzing specifications and bids. Ability to prioritize and plan work independently and to effectively manage projects, including coordination of work and working with other departments, through to completion. Must be detail orientated and able to provide accurate data and information. Able to deal effectively with deadlines and reprioritize work when necessary. Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain or related area preferred. Three years of experience in purchasing, supply chain or closely related field. Working knowledge of SAP required. Aerospace or Manufacturing experience is a plus. Strong negotiations skills. Excellent written and verbal communication.
