Job Duties and Preferred Qualifications : Virginia Beach Public Utilities Technical Services is seeking a critically thinking, self-driven individual to assist with technology-related departmental projects while maintaining existing systems. This individual will work as a member of the Public Utilities Technical Services Operations Support team, supporting division technology initiatives, application administration, reporting, training, and user support. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to: Deliver daily support and management for our BannerCX Customer Information System, Service-Link Mobile Order Dispatching platform, and multiple interfaces that facilitate payment processing, customer engagement, and cross-departmental data integration. Serve as a power user and deliver functional support for our Mobile Order Dispatching Software, Omnissa Workspace ONE UEM. Possess working knowledge of batch job processing and scheduling. Participate in software testing and validation efforts, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and document all findings, results, and identified issues. Assist with the maintenance and inventory management of technology assets, including both hardware and software. Support custom reporting by reviewing SQL and working within tools such as SQL, Microsoft Report Builder, Power BI, JasperSoft, and other reporting platforms. Evaluate business processes, identify business and user needs, and recommend improvements. Coordinate with the IT Department and vendors to resolve software and hardware issues. Develop and document business procedures, user guides, and training materials for end users and internal teams. Conduct end‑user training and provide ongoing support to users with varying levels of technical expertise. Use reporting tools to review and validate data, ensuring accuracy and consistency. Candidates with the preferred experience should ensure the information is provided in the application The ideal candidate should have: Experience with the use of a Customer Information System. Experience serving as a system administrator, power user, or functional lead Working knowledge of relational databases. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office products or similar programs Experience providing technical briefings, developing and conducting training sessions, and creating user-focused documentation. Ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to non-technical users. Commitment to quality customer service for internal and external stakeholders. Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously. Strong prioritization and time-management skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. This position has a hybrid/remote work option after the first six months of employment if the employee is in good standing.
