Bike Shop Manager
Danny's CyclesDanny’s Cycles is a locally owned bicycle retailer with six locations throughout Westchester County, NY, and Fairfield County, CT. We're looking for an enthusiastic, customer-focused Store Manager to lead one of our retail locations. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with a strong work ethic, excellent people skills, and an entrepreneurial mindset. Our stores operate with small, close-knit teams, so we're looking for someone who will take ownership of their location, lead by example, and treat the store like it's their own business. Key Responsibilities Store Leadership & Operations Oversee daily store operations, ensuring a welcoming, organized, and efficient retail environment. Take ownership of store performance, including sales, profitability, customer satisfaction, and overall store presentation. Recruit, train, coach, and motivate employees to deliver excellent service and meet sales goals. Manage staff schedules and ensure appropriate coverage during peak periods. Maintain store merchandising, displays, cleanliness, and organization. Oversee inventory management, receiving, replenishment, and stock accuracy. Follow company procedures for transactions, returns, special orders, and other store operations. Identify opportunities to improve store performance, efficiency, and the customer experience. Sales & Customer Experience Lead by example on the sales floor, actively assisting customers with bicycle purchases, accessories, and services. Build lasting customer relationships and develop repeat business. Help the team achieve sales goals through product knowledge, customer engagement, and thoughtful recommendations. Handle customer concerns and resolve issues professionally, fairly, and efficiently. Ensure customers receive knowledgeable, friendly, and personalized service. Stay informed about bicycle products, cycling trends, promotions, and industry developments. Team Development Create a positive, accountable, and collaborative work environment. Train team members on product knowledge, sales techniques, and company policies. Provide ongoing feedback, coaching, and performance management. Set clear expectations and lead by example, stepping in wherever needed to support the team. Qualifications Previous retail management or supervisory experience preferred. Bicycle industry experience and product knowledge highly preferred. Strong customer service and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a small team. Sales-oriented mindset with an understanding of retail performance and profitability. Strong organizational, problem-solving, and multitasking skills. Comfortable using retail POS systems, computers, and inventory management tools. Self-motivated, dependable, and able to make decisions independently. Willingness to take initiative and handle all aspects of store operations, from assisting customers to receiving inventory. A genuine interest in cycling and enthusiasm for helping others enjoy riding. Schedule & Physical Requirements Must be available to work weekends, particularly during the busy spring and summer cycling season. Flexibility to work additional hours during peak periods and special events as needed. Ability to regularly lift and move merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs. Ability to safely climb ladders to access inventory and store displays. Ability to stand, walk, bend, and perform physical retail tasks throughout the workday.
