Position Summary The Bale Room Attendant keeps our waste paper and cardboard moving. You'll collect scrap and trim from the printing floor, feed it into the baler, and bundle, tag, and stage finished bales for pickup or recycling. This role keeps the production areas clear, the bale room safe and orderly, and recycled material ready to ship. Key Responsibilities: Collect paper waste, trim, rolls ends, and cardboard from production areas and move it to the bale room using carts, hoppers, or powered equipment Operate the baler following standard operating procedures Monitor the baler while it runs and shut it down and report problems immediately Tie off, remove, weigh, and tag completed bales Stack and stage bales in designated areas for pickup Keep accurate records of bale counts, weights, and shipments Sort material by grade (for example, white paper, mixed paper, cardboard) and keep contaminants out of the bales Keep the bale room and surrounding aisles clean, clear, and free of trip hazards Perform basic daily inspections of the baler and equipment and report maintenance needs Follow all safety rules, including lockout/tagout procedures, and wear required PPE Support other warehouse tasks as assigned Qualifications: Required Ability to follow safety procedures and written instructions Ability to work independently with little supervision Basic math and recordkeeping skills (counts, weights) Reliable attendance and punctuality Preferred Previous warehouse, recycling, or production experience Experience operating a baler or compactor Forklift or pallet jack certification (or willingness to be certified) Familiarity with a warehouse management system or scanners Physical Requirements Frequently lift and carry up to [50] lbs, with assistance for heavier items Stand, walk, bend, and push or pull carts for the full shift Work in a noisy, dusty environment with moving equipment Wear required PPE, such as safety glasses, gloves, steel-toe boots, hearing protection, and a high-visibility vest Working Conditions Warehouse and production environment with exposure to paper dust, noise, and moving equipment. Overtime or flexible scheduling may be required based on production needs.
