Location: Victoria, British Columbia
Salary: $80,000 - $100,000

The posted salary range reflects varying levels of experience, from emerging professionals to those with several years of relevant experience. While the full range represents the potential earnings for the role, it is not typical for new hires to start at the top of the range. Placement within the range is based on qualifications, experience, and alignment with internal equity.

Position Description

Reporting to the Maintenance Planning, Records & Materials Supervisor, the Aviation Procurement & Materials Specialist is responsible for the procurement, inventory management, and coordination of aircraft parts, materials, and external vendor services required to support maintenance operations within an Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO). Acting as the primary resource for aircraft parts sourcing and supplier coordination, this role ensures material availability, minimizes aircraft downtime, and supports compliance with company procedures and regulatory requirements.

Working closely with maintenance personnel, vendors, and management, the Aviation Procurement & Materials Specialist supports both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities through proactive planning, effective supplier management, and efficient inventory control.

 

Responsibilities & Duties

Procurement & Purchasing

  • Source aircraft parts, components, consumables, and services from approved suppliers.
  • Prepare RFQs, evaluate quotations, and analyze pricing, lead times, and availability.
  • Create and manage purchase orders in accordance with company procedures.
  • Monitor open orders and follow up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
  • Coordinate procurement activities for scheduled and unscheduled maintenance requirements.
  • Identify alternative sourcing options and opportunities for cost savings and supply chain improvements.
  • Ensure purchased materials meet applicable certification, traceability, and airworthiness requirements.

 

Materials Planning & Logistics

  • Monitor maintenance material requirements and ensure timely availability of parts and services.
  • Anticipate and address potential material shortages through proactive sourcing and inventory management.
  • Coordinate component repairs, exchanges, warranty claims, and return of repairable units.
  • Arrange transportation and logistics for incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Communicate material delays, shortages, and delivery updates to maintenance personnel and stakeholders.

 

Vendor Coordination

  • Coordinate third-party services such as avionics support, NDT, paint, inspections, and specialized repairs.
  • Maintain effective relationships with approved suppliers and service providers.
  • Monitor supplier performance related to quality, delivery, and responsiveness.
  • Support the maintenance of approved supplier records and vendor documentation.

 

Receiving & Inventory Control

  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials against purchase orders and certification requirements.
  • Ensure materials are properly documented, identified, and entered into inventory systems.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records and stock levels.
  • Coordinate proper storage and handling of aircraft parts in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

 

Qualifications & Experience

Education & Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in aviation procurement, materials management, logistics, or inventory control.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in aviation, aerospace, MRO, AMO maintenance environment.
  • Knowledge of Pacific Sky fleet aircraft parts procurement, maintenance activities, and vendor coordination is an asset.

  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and inventory or purchasing software.
  • Ability to evaluate supplier quotations, pricing, and delivery schedules.
  • Problem-solving mindset with the ability to proactively resolve material shortages and delays.

 

Working Conditions

Due to the service-oriented, dynamic nature of our operation, the successful candidate must be flexible with the ability to work weekends, evenings and holidays on an as-required basis. In addition, while it is anticipated that the majority of the work will be conducted at the hangar located in Victoria, BC, additional travel to various operating bases may be required from time to time.
