AV Warehouse Manager
Transcendent ProductionsEvery role at Transcendent Productions is based in the Orlando area. This one runs our warehouse at 7022 TPC Dr, Orlando. Full-time, $24 to $28 per hour based on experience. This is a senior, hands-on role for someone who has run a production or AV warehouse before and is ready to take ours to the next level. If you have not run a shop, built the system, and lived with it, this is not the one for you. You own the shop, and your first job is to rebuild it. Our tour-grade lighting, audio, video, and staging rig leaves most weekends for a different city. We have the gear, the building, and the start of a tag-and-scan system. What we do not have is the operation around it: documented truck packs, a prep and check-in routine, labeling on everything, a clean inventory, and written protocols the crew follows. You build all of that from the ground up. You start solo. For the first stretch you are the one tagging fixtures, designing the truck packs, doing the prep, packing it, loading and offloading the trucks, fixing what comes back, and keeping the warehouse clean, with the touring crew's help on load days. Warehouse technicians come once the system is built and the season proves the need. When they arrive, you lead them, and you know the gear well enough to teach it. What you will own: - Rebuild the warehouse operation end to end: layout, storage, tagging, prep, packing, documentation, repair - Tag every fixture, case, and asset so it is scanned, tracked, and findable - Truck packs: design proper packs, document them, and make sure every load matches the document - Prep work for every tour stop: pull lists, testing, labeling, casing, staging; then pack it and load it - Offload the trucks and check gear back in: damage reports, repairs, restock, put away - Inventory and purchasing: what we own, where it lives, what is out, what is broken, what we need to buy - Protocols: write the procedures, keep them current, and hold yourself and the crew to them - A clean, organized warehouse every day, not just before a load - The warehouse crew, when it comes: hire with us, train, schedule, and lead two to three technicians What the hands-on part looks like: - Build and rebuild looms and cable: XLR, DMX, Cat6, powerCON, SOCA; solder, crimp, test, label - Fix audio and lighting gear: diagnose fixtures, speakers, amps, consoles, and cable to the module level; send out what needs a bench and track it until it is back - Manage repairs: what is broken, who is fixing it, when it is due back, and what it cost - Support the touring team: prep each show's pull, answer the phone on show days, and take an occasional weekend on the road What you need: - Based in the Orlando area (required) - 3+ years running or leading an AV, lighting, or production warehouse or shop (required) - You have built a system like this before: documented packs, tagged inventory, written procedures. Be ready to show it. - Hands-on with lighting, audio, and video gear; you can test it, troubleshoot it, repair it, and show someone else how - Comfortable working solo for stretches, and comfortable leading when the crew is there - Organized to a fault, and you keep a clean shop - Able to lift 50 lb, work a truck load start to finish, and set the pace for the crew A plus, not required: - Dance convention or competition experience; rental house experience - Forklift certification; CDL B - Going out on tour on some weekends to see how the pack works on the floor What we have: - Our own rig and our own warehouse, and a blank page for how it runs - A small company where the warehouse manager sits at the table - Full-time, $24 to $28 per hour based on experience We produce dance events in dozens of cities a year: Intrigue, Hype, Drift, and Neovate.
