Automotive Warranty & RMA Subject Matter Expert (SME)

We have an urgent opening for an Automotive Warranty & RMA Subject Matter Expert (SME) with extensive experience in Warranty Operations, Return Material Authorization (RMA), Product Investigation, and OEM Support within a Tier-1 Automotive environment. Position Details Role: Automotive Warranty & RMA SME Location: Palo Alto, CA (Onsite) Duration: Long-Term Contract Start Date: Immediate Background Check: Mandatory Key Responsibilities Lead the design and implementation of an end-to-end Warranty Return Management operating model. Define RMA lifecycle processes, governance, controls, and escalation procedures. Establish warranty policies, return authorization criteria, and customer support standards. Develop processes for return intake, product traceability, reverse logistics, disposition management, and warranty closure. Define investigation workflows for returned products, including root-cause analysis and failure investigation. Create governance structures, KPI frameworks, and executive reporting mechanisms. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Logistics, Product Support, and OEM customers. Required Experience 10+ years of experience in: Automotive Warranty Operations RMA Management Product Support Field Quality Engineering Technical Support Operations Strong experience supporting OEM customers and post-SOP operations. Tier-1 Automotive Supplier experience preferred. Required Skills Deep knowledge of Warranty Management and RMA Operations. Expertise in Reverse Logistics and Product Failure Analysis. Experience with Root Cause Analysis methodologies. Knowledge of Automotive Quality Standards: 8D APQP PPAP IATF 16949 Experience with SAP, PLM, Defect Management, and Service Management tools. Strong stakeholder management, workshop facilitation, and communication skills.
