Automotive Parts Shipping & Quality Control Associate
Hotch's Auto PartsHotch’s Auto Parts is looking for a full-time Automotive Parts Shipping & QC Associate to join our shipping and logistics team. This is a hands-on position focused on picking, inspecting, preparing, and receiving automotive parts. The right person does not need years of automotive experience, but they do need to be reliable, detail-oriented, comfortable working as part of a team, and willing to learn. This position works under the supervision of our Shipping & Logistics Manager and alongside a small team of parts pullers, drivers, and shipping/QC staff. Schedule & Pay Full-time, permanent position Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Starting wage of $20.00/hour Higher starting wage may be considered for an exceptional candidate with relevant experience What You'll Be Doing Your day-to-day responsibilities will include: Picking automotive parts from warehouse shelving based on dispatched work orders Inspecting parts for damage, defects, or conditions that do not match the description on the work order Identifying discrepancies and bringing them to the attention of the Shipping & Logistics Manager or salesperson for review Completing dispatched jobs using our tablet-based production system Taking required photographs and answering QC questions through the tablet system Cleaning and preparing certain parts before shipment, including polishing/buffing headlight and taillight lenses when required Wrapping and packaging automotive parts so they arrive safely at their destination Preparing parts for shipment on company delivery trucks or through third-party courier and freight services Receiving and inspecting automotive parts arriving from other recycling yards and suppliers Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe shipping/work area Working with the rest of the shipping team to keep orders moving accurately and efficiently Quality Control Is an Important Part of the Job We do not expect this person to make final decisions about whether a questionable part should be sold or shipped. We do expect them to recognize when something does not look right. For example, a door may have existing damage that has already been described on the work order. If the physical part matches that description, that is acceptable. If there is additional damage, a missing component, or something else that does not match the order, the employee is expected to recognize the difference and bring it to the appropriate person before the part is shipped. Attention to detail matters. What We're Looking For Reliable and able to arrive consistently for scheduled shifts Good attention to detail Able to follow instructions and established procedures Comfortable working as part of a team Willing and able to learn Comfortable using a tablet-based work system Able to safely lift and handle parts weighing approximately 50–75 lbs Able to work on your feet in a physical, shop-style environment Automotive or mechanical knowledge is an asset, but not required Previous warehouse, shipping, automotive parts, or recycling experience is an asset Forklift experience or certification is an asset, but not required Previous automotive recycling experience is not necessary. We are willing to train the right person. A positive attitude, reliability, and willingness to learn are just as important to us as previous experience. Work Environment This is primarily an indoor position in our shipping and receiving area. Our facility is clean, organized, and safety-focused, but this is still an active automotive shop environment rather than a climate-controlled retail warehouse. Employees should be comfortable working around automotive parts, shop equipment, delivery vehicles, dust, dirt, and the normal conditions associated with an automotive recycling facility.
