Automotive Mechanic – Fleet
SOMERSET COMMUNITY SERVICESPosition Title: Automotive Mechanic – Fleet Department: Maintenance Reports To: Maintenance Director Pay Rate: $27.00/hour Job Summary The Automotive Mechanic is responsible for keeping Somerset Community Services’ company vehicles safe, maintained, and in good working condition. Essential Duties Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, brakes, batteries, tires, fluids, filters, belts, and other basic repairs. Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical vehicle problems. Inspect vehicles for safety concerns and needed repairs. Complete preventative maintenance on company vehicles. Respond to vehicle breakdowns and service calls as needed. Coordinate outside repairs or towing when necessary. Keep accurate records of vehicle maintenance and repairs. Notify the Maintenance Director when a vehicle should be removed from service. Maintain automotive tools, equipment, parts, and supplies. Keep the work area clean and safe. Road test vehicles after repairs when necessary. Follow all company safety policies and procedures. Perform other fleet or maintenance duties as assigned. On-Call Duties: Will be required to respond to company vehicle problems or breakdowns outside of normal working hours when assigned. Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred. Pass Background Check Previous automotive repair or maintenance experience. Knowledge of basic vehicle repair and preventative maintenance. Ability to use automotive tools and diagnostic equipment. Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Ability to work independently and complete assigned work in a timely manner. ASE certification preferred but not required. Physical Requirements Must be able to stand, bend, kneel, work around and underneath vehicles, and lift up to 50 pounds.
