ConfidentialWe're Hiring: Associate Merchandiser – Fine Jewelry Location: New York Metropolitan Area Job Type: Full-time Seniority Level: Associate Industry: Luxury Goods & Jewelry, Wholesale & Retail About the Role We are looking for an Associate Merchandiser – Fine Jewelry to manage product selection, vendor negotiations, quality inspection, pricing strategies, and inventory tracking across our wholesale, private-appointment, and e-commerce channels. Key Responsibilities Examine, select, and buy finished jewelry and related products for resale through wholesale, private-appointment, and e-commerce channels using quality, specification, quantity, and cost criteria. Negotiate prices, discount structures, order quantities, and delivery schedules with factories and vendors that supply jewelry for resale. Inspect samples, prototypes, and incoming jewelry against technical specifications, including metal, stone quality, dimensions, and craftsmanship, to judge quality and value and decide if goods should be accepted, reworked, or returned. Recommend markup, markdown, and selling prices using key merchandising metrics, such as open-to-buy, gross margin return on investment, sell-through, and margin analysis. Gather information about customer and account demand by speaking with sales and merchandising colleagues and reviewing appointment and channel performance, then use those insights to decide what merchandise to buy. Partner with vendors and overseas factories to get or develop jewelry styles for resale, including reviewing samples linked directly to buying decisions. Track and review sales records, stock levels, and buying trends to predict demand, plan reorders, and assign purchased stock between primary showroom and distribution locations. Advise on open-to-buy budgets for goods to be purchased and approve invoice payments or merchandise returns based on purchase orders and inspection results. Keep accurate SKU, cost, and line-sheet records in our ERP and PLM systems so purchased merchandise can be priced, tracked, and offered for resale. Qualifications and Skills Required A U.S. bachelor's degree in Merchandising, Fashion Merchandising, or Business Administration with a concentration in merchandising or retail, or a closely related field, or the equivalent. Coursework or practical training in retail math, merchandise planning, and supply-chain fundamentals as they apply to buying goods for resale. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for open-to-buy and margin analysis, and working use of product lifecycle management (PLM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems to maintain SKU, cost, and inventory records for purchased merchandise.
