Description

This position oversees the operation of the Maintenance and Transportation Department to 

provide a safe, secure, and comfortable environment for our consumers and staff to live and work. 

Flathead Industries in Missoula, Ravalli Services in Hamilton and Little Bitterroot Services in Plains 

currently has multiple properties and a fleet of over 50 vehicles across Montana and is growing. These 

include administrative, thrift stores, group homes, supportive living residents and rental properties. 

Reports: VP of Operations Flathead Industries, Executive Director of Ravalli Services Corporation 

Exempt Status: Exempt 

Direct Reports: Maintenance Technicians 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

? Overall 

  1. Development of a cohesive team through coaching and training. 
  2. Maintains positive and effective communication with other departments. 
  3. Is responsible for emergency calls pertaining to the facilities and fleet. 
  4. Monitors efficiencies of staff schedules. 
  5. Oversee scheduling and deployment of required inspections. 
  6. Review and approve estimates, purchase orders, and invoices. 
  7. Verify all work is completed to a satisfactory level. 
  8. Oversee annual facilities site audits. 
  9. Participates with tasks when needed including after hour calls and snow removal activities. 
  10. Incident preparedness and safety committee 

? Development 

  1. Responsible for designing and implementation of a Preventative Maintenance Program. 
  2. Management of CMMS for request intake and work order management, delegation of work, 

and tracking of completion. 

  1. Design and Maintain online Asset Database. Cataloging equipment purchase date, serial, 

model numbers, warranty information and end of life projections. 

  1. Establish and maintain vender relationships.     
  2. Management of projects involving this department to ensure efficient utilization of capital. 
  3. Develops, implements and supervises preventive maintenance and renovation programs for 

the facilities and fleet. 

  1. Contract negotiations for facilities related scopes. For example, Elevator Maintenance, HVAC 

Systems Maintenance  

  1. Deployment of Major capital projects and emergency fixes - Roofs, Hot Water, HVAC, 

Elevators, Fire Alarm/Sprinkler, Parking Lot/Sidewalks, Fences, Exterior Lighting, 

Landscaping. 

? Project Management 

  1. Responsible for recommending annual and long-term Capital plan for each site. 

20. Assist with budgeting annual capital projects and maintenance. 

21. Apply for Permits, attend inspections with local government agencies. 

22. Work with Leadership Team to control asset acquisition in an efficient matter. The ability to 

leverage buying power to procure assets in an efficient manner. 

? Fleet 

23. Develop an effective fleet management and safety program. 

24. Institutes an efficient fuel management program. 

25. Approves and monitors repairs of fleet assets. 

26. Develops professional relationships with fleet vendors. 

27. Sources assets in an efficient and cost-effective manner. 

? Other 

28. Provide support during company marketing and fundraising activities. 

29. Provide loss prevention mitigation plans for sites.

Requirements

Required Minimum Qualifications: 

  1. A growth mindset. 
  2. 5-7 years management experience. 
  3. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment. 
  4. Ability to quickly identify and resolve problems. 
  5. Great attention to detail. 
  6. Excellent PC skills (Excel, Word) and internet online reporting; skill in preparing and maintaining 

records, writing reports and responding to correspondence. 

  1. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. 
  2. Knowledge of building management systems and work order software. 
  3. Must be able to read blueprints. 
  4. General knowledge of all construction phases and local building and safety codes. 
  5. Basic knowledge of electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and hvac systems. 
  6. Possess a knowledge and operational skills with Life Safety systems, wet and dry, fire pumps, 

and controls. 

  1. Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays. 
  2. Weekly travel between Missoula, Plains, Thompson Falls and Hamilton. 
  3. Sitting, standing, walking, bending, climbing stairs, kneeling, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

While performing the duties of this job, employee frequently communicates with supervisors, co-workers, 

other employees and consumers. This position must be able to exchange accurate information during the 

performance of the required tasks. The employee regularly is required to stand, walk, sit, use hand to 

finger, handle or feel objects; and reach with hands and arms. Frequently lifts and/or manipulates 50-75 

pounds. Walking and working surfaces are normally even, yet there are exceptions. Specific vision 

abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Physical exertion is 

required while performing certain tasks. Exposure to unpleasant sights, sounds, odors and physical 

aggression may be encountered.
