Assistant Warehouse Manager
Norwood FurnitureJob Overview We are seeking a reliable and energetic Assistant Warehouse Manager to join our retail furniture team. In this role, you will work directly alongside the Warehouse Manager to oversee daily operations, manage inventory, and coordinate customer deliveries. Your primary focus will be maintaining an organized backroom, leading warehouse staff, preventing product damage, and ensuring a seamless transition from our warehouse to our showroom and customers' homes. Core Responsibilities Delivery & Customer Service Logistics Customer Pickups: Oversee and assist with loading furniture into customer vehicles safely, ensuring a polite and professional experience. Delivery Coordination: Stage and load delivery trucks for daily routes, double-checking that all hardware and accessories are included. Showroom Support: Coordinate the movement of floor samples, clear out sold displays, and help set up new furniture vignettes on the sales floor in collaboration with the visual merchandising team. Inventory & Care Deluxing & Assembly: Inspect incoming pieces for defects, unbox and assemble furniture, and perform minor touch-ups or repairs (deluxing) before items reach customers or the showroom floor. Stock Tracking: Receive manufacturer shipments, tag inventory correctly, and update the store's retail inventory system to ensure accurate counts. Team Leadership & Safety Staff Supervision: Lead warehouse associates and delivery drivers, assigning daily tasks like unboxing, staging, sweeping, and trash disposal. Safety Compliance: Enforce proper lifting techniques, team-lifting rules for heavy items, and safe operation of equipment like hand trucks, dollies, or forklifts. Qualifications & Requirements Experience: 1-3 years in warehouse logistics, ideally within a retail furniture, appliance, or big-box retail setting Leadership: Previous experience as a team lead, shift supervisor, or assistant mangager preferred Physical Demands: Ability to perform heavy lifting (frequently 50-100+ lbs with a team partner) bend, twist, and stand for prolonged periods. Soft Skills: Strong customer service skills and a collaborative attitude to work alongside the retail sales team.
