Assistant Used Car Manager

Job Summary The Assistant Used Car Manager helps the Used Car Manager run daily pre-owned operations, from acquiring and reconditioning inventory to pricing, merchandising and closing sales. The goal is faster inventory turn, strong gross profit per unit and a great customer experience. Duties Inventory and acquisition Source used vehicles from trade-ins, auctions, lease returns and wholesale channels to meet inventory targets. Pricing and merchandising Price vehicles competitively using market tools and local demand, balancing gross profit with speed to sale. Make sure every vehicle is photographed, described and listed online within the dealership's required timeframe. Keep the lot clean, organized and presented to showroom standards. Reconditioning Coordinate with service, detail and body shop to bring vehicles to front-line ready condition on time and within budget. Track recon cost and days-in-recon per unit and flag bottlenecks. Coach, motivate and hold sales consultants accountable to daily, weekly and monthly goals. Compliance and reporting Follow all federal, state and local regulations, including FTC Used Car Rule (Buyers Guide), Truth in Lending, odometer disclosure and title and registration requirements. Ensure deal paperwork is complete and accurate before it goes to the business office. Review reports on inventory, sales volume, gross profit and lead follow-up, and report results to management. Appraise trade-ins and purchase vehicles accurately using market data, vehicle history reports and condition inspections. Monitor inventory age and turn rate; recommend price changes, wholesale exits or transfers on aging units. Qualifications Working knowledge of vehicle appraisal, market pricing and inventory management. Strong negotiation, communication and customer service skills. Ability to lead, coach and motivate a sales team. Proficiency with a dealer management system (DMS) and CRM, plus pricing and listing tools vAuto, Cox Automotive/Manheim tools or similar. Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
