We're looking for an Assistant Store Manager who will work closely with the owner and play a key role in daily operations, merchandising, customer experience, and team leadership across both brands. Position Overview This is more than a traditional retail management role. As Assistant Store Manager, you will help oversee daily operations across both stores while partnering closely with the owner to execute the vision and goals of the business. You'll support team development, customer experience, merchandising, inventory management, and store performance while helping maintain beautiful, organized, and welcoming retail environments. This role is ideal for someone ready to take the next step in retail leadership while gaining hands-on experience in merchandising, operations, and business management. What You'll DoLeadership & Team Development Support, coach, and motivate a small retail team Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and training Foster a positive, accountable, and customer-focused culture Provide ongoing coaching and feedback Help ensure store policies and procedures are consistently followed Customer Experience Deliver exceptional customer service and create meaningful customer connections Lead by example on the sales floor Resolve customer concerns professionally and confidently Build customer loyalty through personalized service Create memorable shopping experiences that encourage repeat visits Merchandising & Store Presentation Create and maintain inspiring merchandise displays Execute seasonal floor sets and product launches Maintain visually compelling and organized store environments Identify opportunities to improve product placement and increase sales Operations & Inventory Assist with inventory management, receiving, replenishment, and organization Monitor inventory levels and communicate needs Support opening and closing procedures Ensure accurate cash handling and POS operations Help maintain operational efficiency throughout both stores Business Performance Help drive sales and achieve store goals Monitor store performance and identify opportunities for growth Collaborate with the owner on special projects and initiatives Support key business priorities and ensure strong follow-through What We're Looking For 1-3 years of retail leadership, keyholder, supervisor, or management experience preferred Strong customer service and communication skills Excellent organizational and time-management abilities Ability to prioritize, problem solve, and work independently Interest in visual merchandising and store presentation Strong computer skills and comfort learning new systems Reliable, dependable, and highly accountable Passion for retail, gifts, stationery, baby and children's products, and customer service Why You'll Love Working Here Employee discount Paid time off Flexible scheduling Opportunity to grow your leadership skills Creative and inspiring work environment Direct mentorship from ownership Meaningful impact in a small-business setting Paper Nerd and French Toast Mama + Mini are equal opportunity employers and welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
