Assistant Shipping and Receiving Manager AJM Packaging Corporation Detroit, MI Position Overview - AJM Packaging Corporation, one of America’s leading manufacturers of paper products, including paper plates, cups, bowls and bags, is seeking an Assistant Shipping and Receiving Manager to add our team! This position will do daily duties as related to the shipping, receiving and warehouse activities and as required assist in overseeing all department functions. Responsibilities & Duties - Partake in the communication, coordination, and scheduling between customers, other AJM production facilities and departments to ensure that the completeness and timeliness of orders are meeting to the approval of the customer. Review shipping notices, bills of lading, invoices, orders, and other records to determine shipping priorities and work assignments. From this information, prepare, maintain and update scheduling of deliveries and pick-ups. Process bills of lading and all other related paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. Assist in the verification that all requested items have been received and/or if there is any damage. For any discrepancy between what was ordered (e.g. quantity or wrong part) and what was received, research discrepancies by reviewing paperwork and communicating with the involved parties. Take similar actions for any damaged goods. Review issues related to shipping and receiving and the loading and unloading of commodities for the purpose of evaluating existing procedures and standards. As needed and/or approved, assist in the implementation of operating procedures. As required, oversee all incoming and outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, timeliness, completeness, and condition of each shipment. As required, supervise staff to include, but not limited to: designating work assignments, providing instruction, reviewing work, training new hires; and conducting performance appraisals. All other duties the Supervisor deems necessary. Minimum Requirements - Bachelor's degree in material management, logistics, or a related field is preferred. Three years of transportation experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred. Prior supervisory experience preferred but not required. Must be 18 years of age Must possess strong organizational and administrative skills. Data entry at an advanced rate. Possess working knowledge of how to schedule inbound and outbound freight. Possess working knowledge of personal computers and Windows-based software. Possess excellent attention to detail.
