We offer an extensive selection of hand-painted needlepoint canvases, threads, accessories, classes, and special events. We pride ourselves on providing exceptional customer service, creating a welcoming atmosphere, and building lasting relationships with our customers. We are seeking an enthusiastic, organized, and experienced Assistant Sales Manager to join our team! The ideal candidate is a natural leader who enjoys working with people, takes initiative, and thrives in a busy retail environment. This position is perfect for someone who loves specialty retail, enjoys helping customers, and has the organizational skills to keep a store running smoothly. Needlepoint experience is a plus, but not required. We are happy to train the right person! Key Responsibilities Sales & Customer Service Provide exceptional customer service and create a warm, welcoming shopping experience. Assist customers with product selections and purchases. Support the Store Manager in achieving sales goals. Build and maintain strong customer relationships. Resolve customer questions and concerns professionally. Lead by example on the sales floor. Team Leadership Assist the Store Manager in supervising and supporting employees. Help train and onboard new team members. Provide guidance and direction to staff throughout the day. Assist with employee scheduling and daily assignments. Foster a positive, professional, and team-oriented work environment. Confidently oversee store operations when the Store Manager is unavailable. Store Operations Assist with opening and closing procedures. Oversee daily workflow to ensure the store operates efficiently. Assist with inventory management, receiving merchandise, and restocking. Maintain attractive merchandise displays and store organization. Process sales and transactions using Shopify POS. Assist with online order fulfillment, shipping, and receiving. Ensure store policies and procedures are followed. Identify and resolve operational issues independently when appropriate. Classes, Events & Trunk Shows Assist with coordinating needlepoint classes, workshops, and special events. Help organize trunk shows and merchandise displays. Manage class registrations and customer communications. Coordinate event supplies and setup. Support visiting instructors and special programs. Qualifications Required Previous retail experience, preferably in a supervisory or management position. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities. Leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team. Strong computer skills and comfort learning new systems. Ability to work independently and make sound decisions. Dependable, professional, and proactive. Availability to work five days per week, including some Saturdays. Preferred Experience with Shopify POS or similar retail systems. Inventory management and merchandising experience. Experience in specialty retail or boutique environments. Knowledge of needlepoint, knitting, embroidery, or other needle arts.
