Position Summary The Assistant Project Manager (APM) supports the successful planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout. Working closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Estimators, and field personnel, the APM assists with project documentation, scheduling, procurement, budgeting, and client communication to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The APM will gain hands-on experience while developing technical, financial, and leadership skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Project Administration Assist Project Managers in managing commercial masonry and wall system projects throughout all phases of construction. Maintain project files, contracts, subcontracts, permits, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and closeout documentation. Track project milestones, schedules, and deadlines. Coordinate project communications among owners, general contractors, architects, engineers, suppliers, and field crews. Attend project meetings and prepare meeting minutes and follow-up action items. Cost Control & Financial Management Assist with project budgeting and cost tracking. Monitor labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs. Support the preparation and review of monthly billings, pay applications, and project forecasts. Assist with change order pricing, documentation, and processing. Review invoices and verify quantities for payment approval. Procurement & Material Coordination Coordinate material orders, deliveries, and lead times for masonry products, reinforcing steel, scaffolding, and related construction materials. Work with vendors and suppliers to resolve delivery and procurement issues. Track material usage and assist in inventory management. Scheduling & Field Support Assist in developing and maintaining project schedules. Coordinate with superintendents and foremen to monitor production goals and progress. Help identify and address project constraints or delays. Conduct occasional site visits to verify progress and document project status. Quality & Safety Support company quality control procedures and project documentation requirements. Ensure project records are maintained accurately and completely. Promote compliance with company safety policies, OSHA regulations, and project-specific safety requirements. Project Closeout Assist in compiling punch list items and closeout documentation. Coordinate warranties, as-built documentation, and final project records. Support final billing and project completion activities. Qualifications Required 1-3 years of construction project management or commercial masonry experience. Strong organizational and time management skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Preferred Familiarity with project management software such as Procore, Autodesk, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Planswift or similar platforms. Understanding of masonry construction methods, materials, and sequencing. Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, and pay applications. Experience with construction accounting software Sage 100 Contractor. Bilingual Spanish speaker. Skills and Competencies Strong attention to detail. Problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
