Mayorga Construction Group is looking for a highly motivated, intelligent, and resourceful Assistant Project Manager (APM) who wants more than just a job. We're looking for someone who wants to build a career, take on responsibility, and grow alongside a rapidly expanding construction company. We handle a wide variety of projects, including residential and commercial roofing, new home construction, general contracting, and federal government projects throughout the Southeast. This is not a position where you'll be given a simple list of tasks to complete every day. We need someone who can think independently, solve problems, take initiative, and figure things out without needing their hand held. You'll work directly with our Project Manager and company leadership, helping manage multiple projects, coordinate subcontractors, obtain permits, resolve issues, and keep operations moving. This is a fast-paced, demanding position. You'll be expected to learn quickly, adapt to new challenges, and take ownership of your responsibilities. In return, you'll have the opportunity to develop valuable experience across multiple areas of construction and advance within the company. Key Responsibilities Assist the Project Manager with day-to-day management of residential, commercial, and government construction projects. Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, field crews, and project schedules. Assist with roofing projects, new home construction, renovations, and general contracting work. Handle permitting, inspections, and communication with local building departments. Help manage federal government construction projects, including documentation, compliance, scheduling, and coordination. Review plans, specifications, scopes of work, and project requirements. Assist with estimating, material takeoffs, purchasing, and procurement. Identify potential project issues and proactively develop solutions. Track project progress, deadlines, budgets, and outstanding tasks. Communicate with customers, subcontractors, vendors, and government representatives. Research unfamiliar requirements, find answers, and develop practical solutions. Take on additional responsibilities as needed to support the Project Manager and company operations. What We're Looking For We're not necessarily looking for someone who knows everything about construction. We're looking for someone who has the intelligence, work ethic, and determination to figure things out. The ideal candidate will have: Strong problem-solving skills: When faced with a challenge, you actively look for solutions instead of waiting for someone to tell you what to do. Independence: Ability to manage tasks, make informed decisions, and follow through with minimal supervision. Initiative: You recognize what needs to be done and take action without constantly being reminded. Willingness to learn: You're comfortable researching unfamiliar topics, asking intelligent questions, and quickly developing new skills. Organization: Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines simultaneously. Accountability: You take ownership of your work, acknowledge mistakes, and correct them. Communication skills: You can communicate professionally with clients, subcontractors, vendors, and coworkers. Ambition: You want to advance professionally, take on greater responsibilities, and grow with the company. Adaptability: You're comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where priorities can change quickly. Preferred Qualifications Experience in construction management, project coordination, estimating, or a related field. Understanding of construction plans, specifications, and building codes. Familiarity with roofing, residential construction, or commercial construction. Experience with permitting and inspections. Experience with federal government contracting is a plus. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, and construction management software. Construction Management degree preferred but not required. We…
