Job Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, direct and supervise the printing operation under a service/traditional and/or prison industry enhancement (PIE) program(s) within a correctional setting for potential multiple shift operation.
  • Supervise employees and inmates.
  • Screen, select, train and evaluate assigned personnel.
  • Ensure work performance is monitored and documented.      
  • Direct the time and attendance of inmate workers to create a bi-monthly payroll.
  • Prepare necessary reports.
  • Supervise activity within industry.      
  • Oversee staff to maintain high production volume, ensuring high quality standards.
  • Maintain an effect quality control program and proper preventative maintenance of all equipment.
  • Coordinate production with the customer and industries.
  • Responsible for the security of the work area oversee the use of vehicles and the transportation of inmate workers.      
  • Supervise and perform administrative functions as assigned/required.       
  • Assist in other programs as required. Schedule subject to change.          
Must successfully complete four (4) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State Minimum Requirements: 

A high school diploma and experience in printing, including typesetting, layout, plate making and binding/finishing.A bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience.


SCDC Minimum Requirements: 
  • A high school diploma and experience in printing, including typesetting, layout, plate making and binding/finishing.

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field may be substituted for the required work experience.
