Position Summary:
Assist the Merchandise Manager in developing buying programs for the Golf Shop, maintaining inventory and coordinating product receiving and pricing. The Assistant Merchandise Manager will supervise restocking and fixture rotation in the Golf Shop and Tennis Shop and will work closely with the Head Golf Professional, Assistant Golf Professionals, and Counter Support Associates regarding all merchandise. The assistant merchandise manager will assist for both hard and soft goods.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
To perform job successfully, an individual must have some knowledge of design, buying, retail and promotions, merchandising and marketing. Additional requirements include: inventory management, color coordination, product display, effective working relationships with staff and vendors, personal computer skills, ability to relate to customer’s needs, and communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Assistant Merchandise Manager/Buyer should have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence. The Assistant Merchandise Manager/Buyer should also have the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Assistant Merchandise Manager/Buyer should have the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. The Assistant Merchandise Manager/Buyer should also have the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Abilities
Assistant Merchandise Manager/Buyer should have the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
