Description You're Invited — to run a store that people genuinely love shopping in. The Assistant Manager is the one who makes that happen every single day: partnering with the Store Manager to keep the floor running, leading a small and tightly-knit team, and setting the tone for what "Saint Bernard service" feels like to every person who walks in, whether they're here for a wedding-guest dress or their July packing list. And just like our mascot, you're always looking after your people — your team and your customers — to keep things running safe, sharp, and full of life. This role owns results across six areas of the business — the same six areas used on your quarterly performance review — so what's expected of you day to day and what you're evaluated on are always the same thing. Key Responsibilities 1. Leadership & Team Development Coach, counsel, and hold your team accountable — feedback in the moment, not just at review time. Recruit, select, onboard, and train new team members; keep onboarding/offboarding and Paycom records current. Build a culture of trust and respect; watch for retention risk on your team and address it early. Show natural, consistent leadership presence on the floor — lead by example, not just by title. Resolve conflict between team members fairly and promptly. 2. Client Experience & Clienteling Uphold the customer service standard Saint Bernard has been known for since 1978, on every shift. Own client outreach — follow-ups, personal shopping relationships, and giving clients a reason to swing back by. Ensure accurate, consistent client data capture at the point of sale. Generate ideas for events, promotions, and customer engagement — the kind of "you're invited" moments that make people feel like part of the club. 3. Sales Performance & KPIs Own store sales goals; know your numbers and the story behind them. Coach the team toward strong UPT and conversion — not just total sales. Provide real-time floor coaching during shifts, not just after the fact. Train, motivate, and mentor sales staff to hit individual and team targets. 4. Visual Merchandising & Brand Presentation Uphold visual merchandising standards daily — not just on reset days. Communicate and train the team on merchandising direction; partner with the Merchandiser on execution. Maintain mannequins and floor sets to brand standard. Stay current on advertising, promotions, and display direction coming from HQ. 5. Operations & Inventory Management Maintain inventory accuracy and keep shrink in check. Own receiving, transfers, and replenishment processes. Keep internal communication tight — EODs, EOWs, and hand-offs between shifts and managers. Build schedules and manage payroll to the store's needs, with extra attention around the busiest days of the year, holidays, and black-out periods. Maintain a safe, clean environment and enforce security measures that protect your team, your customers, and the merchandise. 6. Brand Ambassadorship Present yourself professionally as the face of Saint Bernard, on and off the floor. Maintain strong product knowledge and stay current on the brands, trends, and "what's on our radar" picks we carry. Engage customers in genuine conversation — the kind that's kept people coming back to us for over 40 years. Keep growing your own expertise through workshops, publications, and your personal network. What You Bring Full-time availability, including nights, weekends, holidays, and black-out periods. Strong organization, time management, and a genuine passion for fashion and the outdoors. Excellent customer service instincts and working knowledge of the brands and trends we carry. Open, flexible availability for opening and closing shifts as the business requires. Natural leadership instincts — this can be sharpened here, but it has to already be part of who you are. Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Full-time availability, including n…
