Assistant General Manager

Overview We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Assistant General Manager to join our retail management team. Responsibilities Assist the General Manager in overseeing all store functions, including sales, operations, and staff management. Lead and motivate the retail sales team to achieve sales targets while maintaining high standards of customer service. Manage inventory control, stock replenishment, merchandising, and pricing strategies to optimize product presentation and availability. Supervise daily store activities such as cash handling, cashiering, POS system operation, and opening/closing procedures. Conduct employee orientation, training & development sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge of retail products. Handle employee scheduling, payroll processing, and time management to ensure smooth shift transitions. Implement operational policies related to purchasing, inventory management, bookkeeping, and budgeting. Foster a positive work environment through effective communication skills and managerial leadership. Ensure compliance with company policies and safety regulations while promoting excellent customer service standards. Experience Proven supervisory experience within the retail industry, with a strong background in sales team management. Demonstrated success in managing retail operations including inventory control, merchandising, and POS systems. Experience in recruiting, interviewing, onboarding new employees, and managing employee orientation programs. Bilingual or multilingual abilities are highly desirable for effective communication with diverse customer bases and staff. Prior assistant manager or managerial experience in a retail setting is essential. Strong skills in negotiation, pricing strategies, cash handling, and sales management are required. Familiarity with retail math—including basic math calculations related to sales figures, inventory levels, and budgeting—is necessary. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks efficiently while managing multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
